Mallo-Licious Marshmallows

melloliciousThese bags with Mallo-licious caught my eye in the local Walmart. I have never seen them before, so I imagine they are pretty new. They are only $1 for a fairly big bag, so seems like a good deal. Our local store had five different flavors – strawberry, sour peach, banana, red raspberry and vanilla. These candies are big, and so there are not that many in each bag. Also, they are seriously sweet, a 33g serving contains 28g of sugar. We’re talking 85% pure sugar! (your average candy is more in the 50 – 65% range).

Strawberry
Big luxurious fluffy strawberries. The jelly in the middle is soft and jelly-ish. The strawberry flavor is artificial, but they are tasty with a nice strawberry aroma.

Banana
The bananas does not have a jelly-filling, but they have a nice banana flavor. Like all the other mallo-licious candies they are very sweet.

Vanilla
The vanilla does not have a jelly filling. And with their vanilla flavor they are most like regular marshmallows. Very tasty

Sour Peach
As the name indicated, the peach flavored mallos are sour. They are covered with a sour surface, while the interior and the jelly filling is sweeter. I like them best when popping a whole one into my mouth and let the sweet and sour flavors mix.

Red Raspberry
Ehh, red raspberry? Wouldn’t that be just a regular raspberry? These look very similar to the strawberries. The raspberry flavor is very faint; they mostly just taste sweet, very sweet.

Conclusion – These are sweet and fluffy, and dangerously fast to eat. Five pieces will reward you with 200 calories. They taste good though, and the jelly filling is an extra bonus that makes them stand out from other types of marshmallows.

I have been a die hard ‘Peeps’ fan for many many years. This year I opted for a variety of the ‘Mallo-licious’ marshmallows. What a sweet and rewarding detour it was too! Went back to WalMart and stocked up on my favorite flavors, banana and vanilla 2 days after Easter.
Question is : Will this be an Easter candy item only and unavailable the other 10-11 months?

will these be available all year at walmart?

According to Frankford Candy (the makers of Mallo-Licious) these will be an everyday item at Walmart, and so they will be available all year round!
(or at least as long as they sell well enough for walmart to keep stocking them).

I can not find them at Walmart anymore. Where else can I buy them?

Wal-mart seems to carry these again, They are by the marshmallow section at my store, instead of the candy isle. Also note though, 5 pieces of the vanilla(the cupcake ones, anyway) are 120 calories, not 200 like the jelly-filled kind. I much prefer these over peeps, truthfully.Peeps tend to taste stale and not very marshmallowy, and the sugar on peeps taste funky. these are much better!

Yes, like Eudevie said, they usually stock these in the cooking section by the marshmallows. My new favorite are ‘strawberry filled marshmallow twists’. I’m not sure if they are actually by the same manufacturer, but they are sold in the same section and the bag looks very similar.

I was at a holiday store where they sold about ten ailses worth of candy. During my sweets hunting, I found these and I was thinking, “Hey why not try something new?” So I bought the sour peach and wow! they are so good! I shared them with some people at school and they agreed too. I’m definitely going to buy more
